Anyways thanks for your input. I originally thought this would be interesting because of Izumi's internal injuries giving her terrible stamina, but I totally forgot Hoenheim heals her.

Feel free to comment how injured Izumi does if you think this is a mismatch, but it won't influence who wins. Izumi only played a part in defeating Sloth, with many others helping, but it was still indicated that she can pretty comfortably react to him, her alchemy can knock him around and she can use it quickly given her brush with the truth.

Adding how terrified the boys are of her, her throwing sloth effortlessly, as well as the fact that Sloth is an idiot and has lackluster control of his power and speed.

I think she takes this pretty clearly. I know a lot of people might already be going with Izumi due to their brief encounter, but I'll pick Sloth.

First off the only reason he died was due to exhaustion ironic so he would be already weakened when he faced Izumi for a brief instance.

Now we already know he's the fastest homunculus so he scales in any speed feat the other 6 had. His punches also turn humans into mush.

Izumi has the chance here since her Alchemy is clearly above Alex, but Sloth straight up ignores loads of alchemy. I don't really see the hommunculi dropping in stats significantly until their healing factor is not keeping up, it's not really like it's some overall powerlevel.

Even then izumi casually reacted to Sloth with time to spare and let him get close, even if he was significantly faster which I don't really see to a large extent she could still react to him.

Sloth also tends to leave lengthy gaps in between his attack sequences or sometimes just pauses and looks around.

Another way for Izumi to better avoid him would be creating pillars under herself to stand, so that Sloth can not run directly at her or otherwise use techniques to avoid being on the same floor as him, which is a disadvantage.

Sloth has the fastest movement speed, but his reaction speed or even attack speed aside from his rush attack which are usually very telegraphed is not that great and he is njot fast in the head at all.

His only dangerous use of speed is running directly at her in telegraphed fashion in-between periods of wasting time. Once he stands still Alex could pepper him with punches and pretty comfortably adjust to when Sloth was throwing a punch.

Alex also survived getting pummeled by Sloth for prolonged periods of time without truly dangerous damage. In the Father fight Izumi is more visibly wounded than Alex but still pressures Father more than Alex who is easily sidestepped , tanks getting blasted by the same attack that destroys Eds arm and gets right back up.

I could see her being able to tank a couple attacks from Sloth. Sloth wasn't blitzing then. He always blitzes with a blur and he wasn't in that state when Izumi arrived.

Plus this would be saying that Izumi is either equal or superior to Wrath or Pride in speed, which isn't true.

Sloth tanked nearly all of Alex's punches, there's a reason why Alex resorted to some of his most powerful alchemy and even then Sloth brushed it off.

In the Father fight Izumi is more visibly wounded than Alex but still pressures Father more than Alex who is easily sidestepped.

That's because she's a good CQC with a person of her size, those two swords would likely get no-sold by Sloth considering that he doesn't even recognize bullets hitting him because they're that weak.

I don't see Ed's arm surviving a punch from Sloth. Not really, he's the one of three homunculus that was kept getting teamed on because no one could 1v1 him.

Izumi takes it. She has more versatile and creative methods of applying alchemy compared to major armstrong.

She's also no slouch when it comes to strength. The only problem I see for Izumi is Sloth's speed, but I'm willing to bet she can spawn multiple walled spikes or impale him to disable and launch continuous attacks from there.

Except that is demonstratively false, Pride was getting weaker during his numerous fights, Greed was getting weaker shown in his first duel with Wrath, Lust was getting weaker while she was being smoked, Envy was getting weaker while he was being smoker, etc.

It's pretty obvious that the fact Sloth died was from the exhaustion of his stone, that it's only reasonable to assume that he was being exhausted literally just moments prior.

I don't see the struggle in that assumption. You might think it's notable but it really isn't. The force of his speed can immobilize people and even injure those who even come anywhere near it.

I don't see why Izumi of all people would be different. She doesn't really have any feats to back that up. Wrath and Pride were going faster than characters like Greed-Ling, Scar, etc.

That's what I was talking about, Izumi would probably get blitzed by Pride when he uses his powers on her. If he wasn't the fastest he wouldn't have claimed he was, nor would Arakawa put that detail in there.

The intention is pretty clear. Wrath' speed is never portrayed a blur either unlike Sloth, I'm not sure what the Scar vs Armstrong example has to do with anything, Scar was fast but Armstrong could still fight, Armstrong could barely do anything to Sloth's blitz.

I don't see a point in your scaling chain when Sloth is so blatantly shown to be faster than Scar, Wrath being faster than Scar doesn't change anything.

Barely, it's shown numerous other times in the fight where he can't do anything. That's simply not true. Alex is built as a brute who can take damage and was forced into a handicap position for a decent chunk of the fight.

Alex contributing in any events afterwards is simply his personality, charisma, will, etc. I'm not even sure why you think Armstrong taking hits from Sloth is somewhat of an anti-feat for Sloth, it just shows Armstrong can take numerous hits that turn humans to mush instantly killing them Fullmetal Alchemist Volume 21 Chapter 91 , if anything that's a great feat for Alex, but then again shows the fact that Sloth was wailing on him and clearly shown he was superior in physicals.

You're forgetting that Sloth tanks all of Alex's punches better than Alex did with his, Sloth barely had to regenerate his injuries, indicating he only received minor injuries from Alex's punches which then Alex needed to resort to powerful Alchemy which Sloth was again shrugged off.

That's likely going to be an OOC move for her or at least she won't be opening up with that move. She would need to experience a Sloth blitz first and as I have shown that would immobilize her first and possible already create some injuries.

Izumi's main advantage is her CQC skill after all, she doesn't open up with these long range attacks against father of all people, instead she resorts to literal CQC skill with Father by making two swords.

I don't see any logical reason as to why she decides to go long range instead of her in-character CQC self when it comes to Sloth.

And considering how tank shells actually mean nothing to Sloth, he likely has the physicals of one too.

Izumi won't replicate because what you see here was a perfect 2v1 teamwork, Izumi won't capitalize on Sloth's injury before he regenerates since she won't have that timespan.

I don't see where I claimed anything of bullets? I said tank shells couldn't do anything to him, tank shells are pretty powerful, potential building busters might I add, there's only a small fraction of people in FMA with superior striking strength than tank shells.

I'd back Sloth in a hard fight. Izumi has all it takes to absolutely wreck him, but due to all the things he has, be it strength, speed, durability and regeneration, I think she will eventually tire and slip up.

When she fought Sloth, he had already taken a huge beating from Alex and Olivier and fought on even afterwards. He's too enduring. I don't get why you bring up Envy and Lust getting smoked, I said "I don't really see the hommunculi dropping in stats significantly until their healing factor is not keeping up" which imo was what was quite clearly happening to them.

Similarly Pride towards the end has pieces of him and his skin crumbeling up towards the end. When it comes to Greed I don't see him getting drastically slower over time, the video starts with Bradley cutting his arm off before he can do anything and after that he even reacts somewhat better.

Also Bradley eyepatch comes off further into the fight, showing his ultimate eye, which would naturally further increase his performance.

I also don't think there is no speed decrease at all, just that it does not seem to be super-big. Izumi did what she did to Sloth effortlelssly without any sign of nervousness so even if Sloth got somewhat faster it would not matter, it would have to be by a large margin.

I just don't see them strongly decreasing in speed after getting healed consistently. Hell even when Lust was burned down to her lowest form she still managed to almost kill Mustang throwing hweself at him and not getting pushed back by his attack when previously she was battered against Alphonses wall.

It is definitively notable in so far that it shows bad aim from Sloth, hitting neither of his targets directly one of which is signifcantly bigger than Izumi.

Maybe they think observing Sloth and anticipating him, having him come at them is better or maybe they are catching their breath.

There is no indication that they are attempting to rush him and they can talk so there would be time to at least show them attempting something.

Also neither Armstrong did anything when Sloth was charging them that time when Izumi smacked him away with the giant stone fist. The way you interpret their relative inaction in Sloths favour you would have to say that Sloth was basically statueing the Armstrongs, but an attack from Izumi could still intercept him, without her being worried or strained at all.

Maybe adopting your interpretation would be even better than mine for Izumi. Plus both Armstrong are gasping with eyes and mouths wide open in obvious awe of what Izumi did so they definitively consider it to be extremely impressive.

I doubt that would happen in such a pronounced manner if someone merely replicated feats that they would have also been capable of. Pride was faster than the Elrics and others, but he was not exactly "blitzing" them and by extension likely would not "blitz" Izumi either since she at least should not be too far off from the bros and goons in speed, that being said Prides shadows are of course still faster than her.

I am not saying that Izumi would beat Pride, she would not, just that Sloth being able to move faster than Pride is not really applicable in this fight.

Pride can't move his body very fast, his energy tendrills are not really "his speed" in a physical speed, there location depends on where light is or is not and can potentially change at the speed of light and he can send them zipping around the country, through the tunnel.

Pride himself is not super fast and Sloth scaling above him is not super impressive. I am not for sure saying that Izumi is comparable to Pride or Bradley in movement speed, she does not have enough feats to be sure, but she completely amazed both Armstrongs and both Elrics are in awe of her and consider her impressive and they each have a host of feats, Al reacting to and fighting Pride in the end and Ed even surpassing Scar in speed.

It's possible that towards the end of the series they surpassed Izumi, but I think it's unlikely to be by some large margin.

More importantly though Bradley and Pride moreso use their excellent reaction and attack speed, most of the time they are not exactly running at amazing speeds.

It's not super relevant to the discussion, since I was arguing with Sloth having the fastest movement speed in mind, just something that I thought about.

To be fair though Wrath was heavily injured when he was still faster than Scar and also did other crazy feats like during his assassination attempt.

Alex has numerous feats of being relative in speed to Sloth, such as when adjusting his posture while Sloth is throwing a punch, to relocate his posture or landing loads of punches, even though they did not do a lot of damage he was still able to do stuff, also:.

I agree that Alex was only barely able to perform that feat, but he did and blurr speed is still way more impressive than Sloths normal speed.

Izumi also does not need to be faster or even as fast to employ alchemy or sidestep the rush or use some throw. Basically while Sloth is faster he also needs to move more.

You claimed that an attack from Sloth could turn Edward into "mince meat" indicating that it would have far more than enough power to kill him and I think thats overly highballed.

More than a dozen hits to the head did not even come close to killing Alex, not even knocking him out and definitively not turning him into mince meat.

Edward himself has tanked attacks of stone-crushing potency from Envy and has a bunch of other feats and his automail probably is not that drastically inferior to Armstrong head either.

It's true that Sloth was both stronger and more durable, my point was merely Alex being somewhat relative.

The thing about leaning into the punch again shows Sloth having suboptimal speed with ALex coming up with the solution to his problem and adjusting his entire body, while Sloth is throwing a punch.

Sloth also did not really "shrugg off" Alex alchemy, it blew several sizeable holes into him. It's possible that she did not wnat to accidentally hit Greed, she also previously saw tons of ranged attacks fail, Father had even thrown Mustangs attack back onto the people might just have been her switching up the strategy.

Sloth is also a far more obviously physically impressive individual than Father. Father at that point had tried to keep everyone at a distance through a force field, so it seemed like he was deliberately trying to avoid CQC, while Sloth tries to initiate it.

I admit it's not very clear but Father moves significantly more to avoid her attack than Armstrongs and he moves his arms to block the swords several time, when before he had just sidestepped Alex.

Plus there is the effortlessly tossing Sloth and leaving the Armstrongs in awe thing and probably being at least somewhat close to the Elrics.

True, I am not claiming Ed to have superior durability, I just don't think that the gap is so huge and his automail got upgraded after that.

Bradley also cleaved through a tank shell fired at him and the likes of Ling, Fuu or Bucaneer could still at least somewhat clash with him.

That was referring to "those two swords would likely get no-sold by Sloth considering that he doesn't even recognize bullets hitting him because they're that weak.

That's not entirely my point. The whole basis of the whole Izumi vs Sloth argument is based on a small encounter by them and yet you think she has the abilities not only to keep up but to actually win a fight, neither seems to be reasonable at all.

If there was any decrease at all in speed then that's a huge factor and would negate the suppose "speed" area where Izumi could possibly keep up, truth is that she can't, she has no feats on that level at all in the series.

Izumi did what she did to Sloth effortlelssly without any sign of nervousness so even if Sloth got somewhat faster it would not matter. That simply isn't true.

It's very likely that Izumi used Sloth's force to preform a shoulder throw technique which coupled with the fact that Sloth let himself totally wide open AND his already exhausted state made a basic Judo move accessible.

Believe me, if it was actually intended that Izumi would 1v1 Sloth, we would have seen it instead of a Husband-Wife teamwork.

Also this whole "Izumi won't show nervousness" is also not being honest, it's been shown when her original strategy doesn't work then she needs time to process the next move, when it's against a Homunculus there's a chance that would happen.

Considering if she pulled that on Sloth then he'd quite break through that without any major difficulty. But as the war ended, Kimblee killed his commanding officers when they attempt to take back the stone and he was sentenced to prison, as a result,.

Kimblee is later released by the homunculi to assist in hunting down Scar and retrieving Tim Marcoh , though the Elric Brothers thwarted his attempts.

Kimblee is also instructed to instigate a bloody conflict on the Drachmanian border to complete the Nationwide Transmutation Circle, feigning himself as a defector to trick the Drachma people into being led to slaughter during a full-scale attack on the fortress of Briggs.

During the civil war, he briefly berates a guilt-ridden Mustang for the latter's inability to accept there is no justice on the battlefield while openly asks him why he should drown in self-pity when he freely chose to become a state alchemist.

His advice inevitably helps shape Mustang's resolve to aim for the top. In the first anime, Kimblee escapes from prison and joins the homunculus Greed and his chimera lackeys before betraying them to be re-enlisted under Frank Archer.

Kimblee encounters Scar while destroying the city, and, after a failed effort to blow the Ishbalan up, he is killed. In his final moments, Kimblee turns Alphonse into a bomb, which prompts Scar to give the boy the Philosopher's Stone.

She agreed to train the brothers to hone their alchemical abilities after their mother died. She expands their training with a regimen of philosophy, martial arts, and living off the land.

She thinks of the Elrics as her own sons, and although she severs her student-teacher ties with them after learning of their attempts with human transmutation and Ed's joining the State Military , she continues to do all she can to help them.

This is due to her distaste of the alchemist profession. Izumi tried and failed to revive the child through human transmutation an act that created Wrath in the first anime.

The failed attempt took some of her reproductive organs, resulting in her inability to ever again be pregnant, and to periodically vomit blood as well as leave her weak, the latter much to others' disgust.

As she and her husband travel around Amestris in order to avoid the military, they eventually meet Ed and Al's father Van Hohenheim.

He rearranges her insides to ease the blood flow, and persuades her to help collaborate in bringing down the State Military.

She has a Flamel tattoo on her left breast near her ample cleavage. In the first anime adaptation, she was taught alchemy by Dante. Izumi tries to get close to Wrath in order to repent for the creation of him.

She dies between the end of the first anime and Conqueror of Shamballa , but, during the movie, her spirit reunites with Wrath in the afterlife.

He left them and his wife Trisha several years before the start of the series. As the years went on, Hohenheim's status improved and was soon close to the king.

When Homunculus taught King Cselkcess how to obtain immortality, he instead gave it to Hohenheim and himself, sacrificing the citizens from Cselkcess.

Possessing half of the Cselkcess citizens inside him, Hohenheim escaped in horror and tried communicating with them by the time he entered the land of Xing.

After discovering that Homunculus now known as "Father" was going to sacrifice the inhabitants from Amestris, Hohenheim left his family to travel around the country to leave shards from his Philosopher's Stone.

He was originally Dante 's lover, and left her years before the series' start. Meeting Trisha, Hohenheim decided to remain in his current body until his death occurred.

However, as his body started deteriorating, he left his family. After learning of Dante's actions, Hohenheim confronts her, but is transported through the Gate of Alchemy to a parallel world based on the real world.

Ultimately sacrificing his life to return Edward home, Hohenheim forces himself to be fatally bitten by Envy , a homunculus that was based on his own deceased son with Dante, and used as a sacrifice to open the gate.

After sacrificing a number of innocent Ishbalans during the Ishbal Civil War in order to create new stones, he fled the military with some imperfect stone samples.

He settled down in a small country town where he uses his stones to heal the sick. He is later found by the Elric brothers, and he directs them to some of the research he left behind in Central to help them in their search for the Philosopher's Stone.

Marcoh saw Scar as a means to an end while telling him of his involvement in the Ishbalan War in the hopes of being killed in vengeance.

Scar instead disfigures Marcoh's face beyond recognition as a disguise, kidnaps him, and forces him to help in bringing down the homunculi.

In the first anime and live-action movie, while being held in military custody, Marcoh is killed by the homunculi in an attempt to silence him.

When the Elric brothers arrive in town, they trick Yoki into giving up ownership of the town and promptly report his actions to the military.

Though he tries to convince those they encounter that Scar is his servant, Yoki does as Scar commands and calls him "master". Since he has started following Scar around the country, Yoki has assumed a role as comic relief, often having pain inflicted upon him when he tries to seem superior to others.

Roy Mustang's squadron is those who serve directly under Mustang's command. Edward is also a member of the squadron. She often carries out many of the tasks he is too lazy to do, acts as his personal assistant, and protects him from danger.

She also doubles as his voice of reason, keeping cool in heated situations, and scolding him when he allows his emotions to get in the way.

Riza and Roy seem to share a close relationship as she identifies him as her most precious person. In the form of a tattoo on her back, Riza bears the final notes to her father's work on Flame Alchemy, and his legacy as an alchemist and Mustang's teacher.

After seeing what Mustang was capable of during the Ishbal War with such ability, Riza begs Roy to burn the tattoo, fearing the damage future flame alchemists could cause.

She eventually defects from the military to help Mustang overthrow King Bradley. In the live-action film, she is portrayed by Misako Renbutsu.

His chess code name is "The Knight". He is usually seen smoking a cigarette, something that Arakawa developed prior to the series' start to help Mustang to create fire to fight homunculus Lust.

Because working for Mustang requires moving frequently and complete dedication of time, Havoc has very little free time, and cannot maintain a relationship with a woman for very long.

In the course of the attempt to kill her, Havoc is severely injured when Lust stabs him through the spinal cord, leaving the lower half of his body completely paralyzed.

His chess code name is "The Rook". He was recruited by Mustang for his high level of intelligence, indicated by his talent with chess and other strategy games.

Despite his intelligence, he still has an irrational fear of dogs. Breda is usually tasked by Mustang with jobs that require he travel abroad.

He is transferred to Western Headquarters when Mustang's group is broken up by the homunculi. His chess code name is "The Bishop".

He was recruited by Mustang for his innate ability to remember almost every detail, allowing him to act as a sort of recording device that does not leave any physical evidence.

Because his intellect is his area of expertise, he does not have much experience in the field, causing him to make rookie mistakes when in a combat situation.

He is overly formal, causing some of his comrades to wish he would lighten up. Falman does not play a large role in the first anime, only being another of Mustang's subordinates.

He is subsequently transferred again, this time to Briggs' Fortress where he is given what amounts to janitorial duties.

There, he reunites with the Elric brothers and helps them and Briggs' forces plan against the homunculi. His chess code name is "The Pawn".

He is overly kind in nature, both to people and to animals. He was recruited by Mustang for his technological expertise.

As such, he primarily helps Mustang with communications, both in creating secure lines and tapping into others. He is transferred to Southern Headquarters when Mustang's group is broken up by the homunculi.

He eventually defects from the military so that he can help Mustang overthrow King Bradley. Throughout the history of the country, it has existed to put down uprisings and annex surrounding hostile countries into its borders.

It is led by King Bradley , and uses a ranking system common of most real-world militaries. He works in the military's intelligence division but spends much of his time using the military phone lines to brag to Mustang about his family.

After his daughter, Elicia, is born, he fawns about how cute and talented she is and bombards others with pictures of her when he sees them.

Despite his over-the-top comical tendencies, Hughes is a valuable ally to Mustang's goal of becoming Führer, supplying whatever classified intelligence that may be beneficial.

He has also been shown to be a capable fighter, skilled with throwing knives. His general understanding of others' emotions and desire to help them similarly gains the affection of the Elric brothers and their friend Winry Rockbell , as he always offers advice or hospitality to them when they need it.

However, he is shot and killed by Envy , disguised as Hughes' wife, Gracia. Because of his extremely muscular build, this usually causes great personal injury to others.

Armstrong is very proud of his strength and of his muscular physique, frequently taking off his shirt so that he can flex to show off.

As a final element of his comedic properties, he has the tendency to "sparkle", a trait apparently shared by the rest of his family; when first appearing in a scene or taking off his shirt, pink stars radiate from his body.

He is not fond of violence and will try to end conflicts peacefully, and will break down and cry if an innocent person is killed.

Armstrong comes from a wealthy family of aristocrats who has earned renown in most professions. He has mastered many of his family's talents for himself, and when displaying such a talent, he brags and remarks it to have been "passed down the Armstrong line for generations.

He takes his honor as a soldier and as a leader seriously, and always looks out for his peers' and subordinates' best interests.

Unlike her brother, who is cheerful and rather emotional, Olivier is stoic and distrusts everyone when she first meets them; she has no patience for formalities or idle conversation.

She is also, similarly, a firm believer in survival of the fittest. This has earned Olivier a reputation within the military, and in Drachma, as one who should not be crossed, though her subordinates hold her in high regard.

Because she readily joins them in hostile situations and disregards the orders of superiors if she disagrees, her subordinates will answer only to her.

Despite her cold attitude, she is heavily implied to care greatly for her subordinates and family, and in rare instances shows some emotion before reverting to her usual personality.

She always carries a sword at her side, and is proficient enough to be able to defeat her brother in combat.

Olivier crosses paths with the Elric brothers when they arrive at Briggs' Fortress. After Sloth infiltrates Briggs, she is able to convince them to tell her about the homunculi that control the military.

Once she learns of plans to create an army of immortal super-soldiers, Olivier fights against the homunculi. Although she has no direct control of Briggs, her subordinates still operate it under her wishes, eventually sneaking into Central to help Olivier take control of the government.

Ross is framed by the homunculi for the death of Maes Hughes. Before leaving, she asks that her family and Brosh not be told that she is alive so as to keep the secret from getting out.

Brosh is voiced by Masao Harada in the Japanese version of the first series, Yuki Hayashi in the second, and Jim Foronda in the English dubs of both series.

Because she spent all day reading the many documents stored there, instead of doing her job, she was fired. She has a photographic memory and can remember and reproduce anything she has ever read, with word-for-word accuracy.

Because of this, after the library burns down, the Elric brothers seek her out to see if she can remember any research papers by Tim Marcoh.

She transcribes the entirety of his research for them, earning enough pay to last her a year for her troubles.

When Maes Hughes learns of how she helped the Elrics, he hires her to help recreate the criminal records that were destroyed in the fire.

Naomi Wakabayashi voices her in the first anime, and Gwendolyn Lau in the English dub. These experiments, performed in secret by the State Military to dispose of injured soldiers or those that have taken part in secret missions, endow the human with abilities reminiscent of the animal.

He and Dolcetto are killed by the homunculi while trying to defend Greed. She uses this ability during her introduction to infiltrate Alphonse Elric 's hollow armor body and control it from the inside.

Martel is killed during King Bradley's attempt to capture Greed, while inside Alphonse. She is ultimately killed by Bradley in much the same way as in the manga, though not before informing Al that Bradley is a homunculus.

A total of four chimeras are introduced in the series as Solf J. Kimblee 's bodyguards. The ending implies that Darius, Heinkel, and Yoki joined the circus.

Their god is named "Ishballah" "Ishvala" in the second anime. The majority of their population was slaughtered by the State Military during the Ishbalan Civil War.

The few survivors live as criminals and refugees in various slums across the country, usually leaping at the opportunity to fight against Amestrians.

Its people are Asian in appearance and are split into fifty clans under the rule of a single emperor who fathered a child in each family.

In the current storyline, the emperor is in failing health, and his children of which there are 43, 7 implied to have been assassinated if not die of natural causes , whose families are not in good standing with one another, seek to earn his recognition in his final days.

Two of his children, Prince Lin Yao and Princess May Chang , go to Amestris in separate attempts to find the fabled Philosopher's Stone and gain immortality, hoping that doing so will convince the emperor to make them his successor.

He is an older man and the grandfather of Lin's other bodyguard, Lan Fan. Though committed to his duties and stern in nature, he cries for his granddaughter after learning that she sacrificed her arm for their prince.

He leaves his prince's side for an extended period of time when helping Maria Ross escape to Xing, and again when taking Lan Fan to get automail surgery.

She is the granddaughter of Lin's other bodyguard, Fu , and is implied by Lin to be younger than Lin is.

While protecting Lin, Lan Fan is severely injured by King Bradley , having to amputate her arm in order to escape. After regaining consciousness, she and her grandfather leave Lin so that she can get automail surgery to replace her arm.

She is somewhat imaginative in nature; having imagined Edward Elric as a tall and handsome young man before actually meeting him and proclaiming that he intentionally misled her.

For a time, she also unknowingly fights the Elric brothers before eventually teaming up with Alphonse, who she developed feelings for, to capture Envy and bring the weakened homunculus to Xing.

In the epilogue, May is seen in a family photo together with Alphonse, Edward, Winry, and the couple's son and daughter. Mixing her two specialties, Pinako is also a prominent automail engineer and presumably the founder of Rockbell Automail, a family-run automail atelier within the town.

Pinako also happens to be the neighbor and close family friend of the Elrics - Van Hohenheim , Trisha , Edward and Alphonse.

As Winry's only remaining blood relative after the death of her parents, and the closest adult to the Elric brothers after their mother's passing and their father's disappearance, Pinako acts as caretaker to the three youngsters, training Winry in automail engineering and serving as Ed and Al's home base whenever they return to Resembool.

Several centuries prior to the series, she and Hohenheim had had a son together who died of mercury poisoning and was made into the homunculus, Envy.

However, Hohenheim realized how corrupted Dante had become and left her, leaving behind only a small fragment of a Philosopher's Stone which she quickly used up.
